A Bit of Background
How We Got Started
We started with these wonderful animals back in 2014. Originally we did not plan to operate as a Dog Breeder, we just wanted a wonderful pet for ourselves. However, we became hooked by Apollo, we could not ask for a better dog. A few years later we added a second and then a third and on... to our family.
After acquiring a lot of information about the breeding process, many years in the veterinary field and as a dog trainer we decided to do our part in preserving it, which led to the birth of our Crawfordsville business. Since then, we’ve known so much love, joy and excitement! Contact us to find out more.

All of our breeding animals are carefully selected based on lineage, health, and temperment. While we have a vast array of colors we do not breed based on color, nor do we price our litters based on color.

As a full time trainer at Shaffer Dog Training I deal every day with pets that didn't have the best start in life, or were not bred ethically and responsibly. I feel that we need to stand above the standard norm if we are breeding. We fully believe that health testing is of dire importance, and we work closely with our veterinarians, including Drs. at Purdue University when making our breeding decisions. We DNA test through Optimal selection and others, including EAOD testing. We Penn Hip test, or OFA test Hips and Elbows as suggested by our breed club. This is minimum testing for our breeding animals. While health tests are important to any breeding program, they are not the only important factor. Our dogs are well bred for proven lines, with no association with epilepsy, and bred for purpose. We also carefully consider temperament and drive when pairing dogs to achieve the best fit for the purpose as well as great family dogs.
